Hyundai will bring the updated Tucson to India in May 2019. The refreshed SUV made its global debut a few months ago at the 2018 New York motor show. As part of the mid-cycle refresh, the Tucson gets styling tweaks to its nose and a mild design update to the headlights, which are now full-LED units – at least on the top-spec trim. The grille now comes with Hyundai’s cascade look and the SUV also gets restyled bumpers and fog lamp housings. The refreshed Tucson packs in multiple driver-assist features, including autonomous emergency braking and lane-keep assist. It also comes with a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control. The infotainment system gets an upgrade too, with an 8.0-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. For India, expect Hyundai to continue with the same engine options – a 155hp 2.0-litre petrol and a 185hp 2.0-litre diesel. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. As far as safety goes, Hyundai is likely to offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill assist and brake assist on all variants of the updated SUV. The Tucson facelift will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass, the upcoming MG Motor SUV, the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market. The company has already begun work on the next-gen Tucson, which will come in 2021. This model will come with a seven-seat configuration and will get new features, like a head-up-display.
